To work towards a world that takes us back to basics - real human connection, placing importance on the health of our spirits, souls, mental, physical, emotional health as a whole. Not neglecting one area.
A place where community thrives and we go back to caring for one another - our neighbours, elders, everyone who we pass in the street, anyone who we know is lonely. Rushing through life's moments is no longer needed - finding contentment and joy, no matter our circumstances.
Where greed, ego and gluttony are set aside. Where people find purpose and meaning through serving others. Nick Cokas once said to me, "Imagine if we woke up every morning and the first thought on our mind was, 'How can I help someone else today?'" - gosh, that would be lovely.
That would be the origin of true health - for ourselves and for those around us.
A world were we pass on our skills and knowledge to others. Where everyone wants to see each other grow. Creation is celebrated. Destruction is non existent. The origin of our decisions and actions come from love, affinity, compassion and grace.

I finally understood what that buzz word was all about - ‘EMPOWERMENT’. I wanted to to be my own hero.
BALANCE - in my training, in my nutrition and in my life. Everything fell into place - including my waist line.
If I wanted to feel like I was having the greatest IMPACT in my life, rather than always being IMPACTED, I would have to give give give!
How I Found My Power and
How You Can Find Yours!
I was nearly kidnapped. Yip - you read right. It was a sunny Sunday afternoon in London where a man tried to pull me into his car. I had, emphasis on had, no clue how to FIGHT so that left me with one other option… FLIGHT! I ran. Usain Bolt style - I had just heard one of his interviews where he said ‘the higher I lift my knees, the faster I run’ - thanks for the tip Mr Bolt - it saved my life!
From that moment, I craved something I had never craved before… Safety? No. Sanctuary? Nice, but not sitting the spot… Drum roll please… POWER is what I wanted! I finally understood what that buzz word was all about - ‘EMPOWERMENT’. Never again did I want to be the deer caught in headlights, the Beauty overpowered by the Beast, the timid Lion on the Yellow Brick Road to Oz. I wanted to to be my own hero. Something Marvel would created a franchise around! Why not? Hey… that’s actually a not too shabby idea… Any Marvel producers out there? (Said with a wink).
And so, the dainty-wristed, dance major actress made a decision to start a martial art… MUAY THAI! With every punch, kick, knee, elbow and blow to the kick pad (along with a terryfying growl that, in all honesty, resembled a chihuahua more than a tiger), I found strength I didn’t know I had. Eeek! It was scarily exciting!
Not only that, I found (my next favourite buzz word) ‘BALANCE’ - in my training, in my nutrition and in my life. Everything fell into place - including my waist line. #MuayThaiPerks
Have you ever found something you love so much that you felt you need to keep it all to yourself, but at the same time share it with the world? Like shouting your lovers name from the rooftop! Or cranking up the volume at a party to your new favourite band’s single no one has heard about yet.
I felt a Godsend urge that this new found skill was too good NOT to be shared.
Hello Self-Defense Seminars! Starting in Cape Town South Africa (shoutout!) and continuing in Los Angeles USA - my focus shifted from my own empowerment to giving power to others… And my oh my, I grew! Did the fire burning inside me diminish as I gave out some of those hot coals to others? Quite the opposite! With every coal given, a new fresh log was replaced - and that’s when it clicked… (Yoda moment) One’s true power isn’t found in constantly, exclusively working on one’s self. That’s great and all (carry on with your self-care, self-love and self-empowerment… those are yummy, juicy things to continue), but if I wanted to feel like I was having the greatest IMPACT in my life, rather than always being IMPACTED, I would have to give give give!
But what was there to give?
